Message From Boy Alegre

To all Alegre Clan,
Greetings to all my dear relatives, from the bottom of my heart allowme to convey my warmest regards to all of you. I hope for peace andhappiness in all your undertakings.
During my last visit to Paoay last February, I was privileged to meetsome relatives and I felt very happy and yet sad at the same timebecause so many of our relatives were gone and never had the chance tosee them. It is really true that life is too short and we shouldalways take advantage of the time we have as a family. And I thoughtthat the best way to enhance this time is to gather ourselves togetherin one occasion and why not, a grand reunion for the whole AlegreClan, anybody that has in one way or another has an Alegre bloodline or connected through affinity are all welcome. I started mentioningthis idea to some and I was surprise to receive so many positivefeedbacks and thus the Alegre Grand Reunion was conceived. And beforeI left a committee of coordinators for the event was designated, and Ithank my cousin, Mrs. Corazon Alegre Martin for taking charge.
Now is the time for all of us to unite together as one to make thisevent very successful, memorable and enjoyable. To me, this will be avery historic and especial event, this time we as a clan canstrenghened our ties and bonds, get to know and meet one another andjust have a good time.We heartily welcome any suggestion, input, ideas, critics and helpfrom anyone, as individual or group, as family, we should make aconcerted effort to contribute to the success of this affair and weare hopeful for your positive and willing participation.
Sincerely,
Elpidio A. Alegre

For a time in our lives we lived in Solano N.V. and enjoyed the friendships with our cousins and relatives. Together with every christmas we would celebrate Pa's birthday. It was his joy to invite the less priveleged ones to his party. Shown here are two of the town's street sweepers, our pastor and his wife.

Psalm 23

The LORD Is My Shepherd
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Flowers for a Fallen Brother

These lovely pink roses were from my Dad's fraternity brothers.

The Upsilonians Came to Condole

"Brother Jun Alegre '53 - when I meet you brother in the sun, I shall tell you much. "Now I understand why the leaders of Upsilon are called Illustrious Fellows, they look up to the sun and they endeavor to live their lives to illuminate others - to inspire and energize. Papa, you are worthy to be called an Upsilonion. I wish the younger generations take this to heart. Thank you Professor Vergara - you made our last moment with our Dad more meaningful by adding wonderful pieces to the puzzle.... your testimonial shed another aspect of his life. We are more than grateful.

Mission of This Blog
This blog is created to continue the bond that was formed out of my father's quest to search for his roots. He was told by his father that the Alegre family came from fro Paoay Ilocos Norte. And so he embarked on a pilgrimage in search of his relatives in Ilocos Norte and there, he breathed his last.
He didn't get to see his relatives in Paoay but as soon as the Alegres of Paoay heard about a news that a man died in search of his roots, they all flocked to the parlor where he lied in state for a night.... and so started the beginning of this blog.
Its mission is to keep the bond of the Alegre Family. Being Ilocanos, we are a wanderer - always searching for fresh opportunities wherever it is in the world. One can find an Alegre in all the places in the Philippines, Hawaii and the US Mainland.
We would like to keep the fire burning. Any one who carries with them the Alegre blood line is free to post an article, a picture, a news.
